WASHED WITH PURE WATER

I have become heavenly-minded
by the cleansing with water
through God's word,
with the washing of water
that consummately purifies
with the power of indissoluble life.
No fleshly ritual baptism
can sanctify the heart
from death-dealing misdeeds
like the covenant blood of sprinkling.

Judaical ritual washings,
Brahmin holy baths
And Islamite ablusions
are utterly overcome
by the sprinkled blood
from Immanuel's veins.

The soul once washed
with pure water
through the word
will be sanctified
and permitted to stand
accepted in the beloved.

The master in Heaven
is Himself God's word
whose water has affused me.
His baptism has cleansing power,
redeems and atones,
and opens Heaven's gates.

Various fleshly washings
are baptisms of the dead.
