Ujamaa Christian Poetry
Unipolarity in Jesus
In the jaws of this monster I seem content to rest
Phantom at worst, toothless at best
Frozen in hideous apathy
Although aware that I am free indeed
Mourning a battle that's already won
Dreading commencement that's long since begun
Immobilized with the power to press through
Though I know whose I am, and who.
In the darkness you are there
Witnessing each lonely tear
When no one is around
Is when your comfort does abound
I look from left to right
Searching for you, gripped with fright
When you're right in front of me
Though my weary eyes don't clearly see
Paralyzed, I'm frozen in free fall
Waiting for you to answer my call
When in fact you answered before I asked
Which is why my parachute is holding fast
How I long to feel your touch
My outstretched hands prepared to clutch
But my grip pales compared to yours
You've securely sustained me forever more
I cry out in my pain
Feeling as though I wail in vain
But I console myself in your Word
Before the world was formed my lament you heard
Psalms 13 speaks for me
From the valley to the mountain I know I'm free and claim victory
Stepping into perpetual mania for which I am meant
Exodus forever the abysmal torment.
