Mirror of The Soul

The outer beauty of ourselves
Is just as deep as our skin
We may look fair or meager
But that which matters is within

Our eyes will look upon man
for all that on the outside we'll see
But when assessed on the inside
One may not meet up with what it should be

The mirror in which one views
Shows only the reflection of time
We may behold a "beauty"
Whose heart and soul don't rhyme

Our aim must be, in this present life
To reflect the Love of God
That we ourselves will not be seen
But Jesus be standing in our spot

So, please, have yet another look
In the mirror of your own heart
See if you're already fading away
Giving room to what is the Lord's part

For it will not do us any good
If our mirror doesn't reflect the Son
We don't have any strength nor beauty
Our own attractiveness must be gone

To love ourselves is carnal minded
Showing forth Him, to self we must die
That which we see won't last forever
It's the eternal "unseen" we cannot deny

Our beauty is only in Jesus Christ
While connected with the Father above
When willingly be His hand extended
The mirror will only show His love
