This Piece

I want to write a piece for my god
That has been screaming to be birthed out
For months I've cried out in agony
In prayer and with sorrowful tears
Looking and thinking back at all the pieces I've written over
the years
But I know there's something yet, something else is there
that's been left unwritten and unheard
I cry out and pray for the seed of this baby and just like
Hannah, my lips they move but out comes no words
I pray in silence through burning tears because the words are
written down deep within my heart
I have built up the faith to know that one day, in his timing, the
lord will remember and honor my petition
I know because of faith and it has nothing to do with the
fleshly intuition
I want to write a piece for my god that will move and set free
I want to write a piece for my god that will come up and out
from the depths that are within me
Words upon words upon words
Phrases upon phrases upon phrases
The day is gone, my body stands tired and my eyes have become
hazy
But I still can't rest throughout all I've written
Whether good or whether it was a mess
There lives in me, expectancy to birth out my best.
I want to write the piece for my god that has been burning a
hole in my soul
I want to write a piece for my god that demonstrates the
potter's mold
I want to just write that piece that I feel leaping all inside of
me when I pray and worship and my insides feel like flames
that have become open and lit
Didn't Elizabeth feel the same way at Mary's greeting and
wasn't she then filled with the Holy Spirit?
When my ears hear his word that piece begins to stir like tea
The chills they come, the tears they fall and the spirit just
jumps all over me
Morning, evening and night my prayers are for the
understanding with the meaning behind this piece
Sometimes I grow tired of thinking about it but the feeling
never seems to cease
I want to write for my god a piece that's loud and a piece
raging with praise
I want to write for my god a piece that will honor him for the
rest of my days
I want to write for my god a piece that will make the devil
shake and tremble in his tracks
I want to write for my god a piece that will agitate my grounds
and evil will have no choice but to jump back
I want to write a piece that for me and somebody else will be
that needed confirmation
I want to write a piece that for of us all will give us that
spiritual sensation
I want to write a piece for my god that will help others and
myself with this lifelong walk
I want to write a piece for my god that will shut up my flesh
and not even allow it to talk
But I want to write a piece for my god that will be spoken
through my spirit in which I have come to love and know
Spoken through my spirit that he has shaped and nurtured and
is watching to grow
Spoken through my spirit but is heard as poetry to you
Spoken through my spirit that has been reconditioned and
been made anew.
Seeded, planted and by his word my spirit took its root
Pruned and still trimming all the branches that aren't
producing fruit
I want to write a piece for my God, My Master, My friend that's
merciful and kind
I want to write a piece for my God because I delight in knowing
that he is the vine.
I write this piece
I speak this piece
I breathe this piece
I deliver this piece from earth and place it at his feet
Because spoken with his tongue and sealed by his blood
A covenant was made about this piece, a signed and
unbreakable contract of love
I don't know what, how and even when the contract will be
fulfilled
I just know that I give back to him this piece and as he
continues to prune my spirit, I will shew forth his praise with
every task, every talent and every skill
Just knowing that he chose me, Just sharing in on the greatest
intimacy and for allowing me just one more chance
Lord I rejoice in you and I'm thankful for my deliverance
This piece Father
This piece was birthed from your promise by a woman whom
you've taught godliness and virtue
For this piece piece says there is no one more worthy or no one
more holy than you
You've struck your mark, sent down the lightening and
thunder with your rod
Because this piece is yours, this piece is for my god.
