If I Had To Die For A Kid Like Me

Lately I've got to thinking
What a man You had to be
To walk that road with a cross on Your back
That should have been given to me
If I'd been alive at that time
If I'd been there I'd say to You
Do You know what You're getting into?
Now here I am with a question at hand
Were I faced with humility
What would I say, what would I do
If I had to die for a kid like me
Some people would die for a friend
Who'd never done them any wrong
But I've betrayed You so many times
And still You help me along
I look into the mirror
I'm disgusted by what I see
How could You even know my name
Much less die for a kid like me
I've been given a gift not meant to keep
Been offered a helping hand somehow
There's no longer room for complacency
I've no choice but to answer now
What would I say, what would I do
In the face of humility
Jesus, I'd want to be just like You
If I had to die for a kid like me
