Because of Love

I stare in awe upon the now empty Cross;
Why did He do this deed, why did I have to sin;
I hear the bang, bang of hammer against wood
Each piercing sound, a cruel blow as
Nail drives inch by painful inch;
My heart laments, the tears do fall
I can no longer stem the flow
I feel the pain, I want to die
Why did they take His life?
Then His words in mind I hear:
"No man taketh it from me, but I lay
it down myself…for if I go not away
the Comforter will not come unto you…"

More comforting words from Isaiah I hear:
"But He was wounded for our transgressions
He was bruised for our iniquities;
the chastisement of our peace was upon Him;
and with His stripes we are healed."
Because of love He did this deed!
How unselfish was my Lord and God
To give His life for my iniquities;
Thank you Jesus for love so great
Fill me with unselfishness;
Help me freely give!

"For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life."
(John 3:16)
