DRINK FROM MY HEART

Outside,
My flesh
And bones
Are as dry
As the
Gobi desert.
The hope
Which once
Sprang from within
My belly
Has been turned
Upside down
Even as an
Hourglass.
I have no strength
Of limb nor will
Of movement.
Inside,
All is quiet now.
There is no stampede.
There are no squatters.
There are no crosswinds
Of confusion
That blow across
The reservoir
Of my heart.
So...
Go ahead, take a deep
Deliberate, delicious
Drink from my heart.
Its refreshing waters
Bear your seal.
You have placed
My name as a
Seal upon your arm,
That I, too, am satisfied.
