THE GIFT

If Christmas were just
Sleigh bells and holly,
We would forget giving
And proceed in folly.

If Christmas were just
Presents under the tree,
We would soon forget
True generosity.

What is Christmas after all?
If not the gift God gave
Unto men; His solution
For suffering and sin.

He gave His only Son
In whom He's well pleased,
To atone for every sickness
And to heal every disease.

We may never know
As He hung on that tree,
T'was His precious blood
That set all men free.

The Father set the standard
Of giving and what it meant,
The gift of life is free indeed;
It doesn't cost a cent.

Now we can joyously begin
Each Holiday Season again,
With the promise of peace
And good will towards all men.
