Let Us Love Our Enemies

That evil regime, under guise of religion
Came to bring us suffering and death.
They killed thousands of innocents
As they breathed out their lifetaking breath.
Let us love our enemies.

They thought to take away our resolve;
They intended to take away our very life.
But, as the smoke cleared at ground zero
They saw we are much stronger in strife.
Let us love our enemies.

God, forgive those who would destroy
Our country, our cities, our towns.
Let our hearts be accepting and warm;
Let us love them with never a frown.
Let us love our enemies.
Amen
